Hygiene for Pocket Sugar Bears
|
|

When it comes to your Sugar Bears' bowel movements, there can be some
misconceptions. A common question that comes from people
refers to litter boxes. As good of an idea as this
sounds, you are just wasting your time. When your Sugar Bear has to go to the bathroom, he will, regardless of
where he is at. He will go to the bathroom in his
exercise well, near his heat rock or in random areas of
the cage. These guys do not require a leash and a walk
either. Granted, if you wanted to make a leash and take
him for a walk, I am sure it would not hurt, but he
definitely will not take it as a potty break. He will
just think you are being nice and letting him out for
some exercise.
If Sugar Bears do not get walked or use the
litter box, how do you go about this situation? Well,
when you have your specially designed Sugar Bear cage
you will notice there is a poop tray underneath. If you
have ever owned birds or had a pet rabbit, you will know
exactly what a poop tray is. Since these guys will just
lay waste where ever they want, these poop trays will
line the entire bottom of your cage and will catch all
the droppings your little friend will leave behind.
What exactly do you use to line your poop tray?
Newspaper is usually the easiest to use and clean up.
Plus, you can usually always find old newspapers lying
around. You can also use wood shavings, but this can get
a little pricy and can be a bigger pain to clean up.
When it comes to the most common method of lining the
poop tray, newspaper wins hands down. Making sure you
clean the poop tray once or twice a week will also keep
the smell down.
